Save Kids Trust (SKT) is the primary healthcare provider for over 22,000 people in Jaipur, India. Their approach of opening clinics in densely populated underserved communities where they have built trusted relationships has proven to be remarkably effective. The Covid-19 pandemic brought a new urgency to provide food supplements for families hardest hit; day wage labor earners and those earning a living by daily selling to locals. The need is extreme among all three clinics. Patients showing Covid symptoms are immediately treated with reliable first treatment medications. In addition, the clinics are still taking care of other healthcare needs. Tarak lost his ankle & foot in a workplace accident in January 2020. His injury left him unable to work and stay-at-home orders for 6 weeks made it even harder for him to seek treatment and begin the road back to earning a living for his family. Tarak lives in a state in the northern part of India but he has a friend who lives in Jaipur and uses SKT for his family’s healthcare. This friend invited Tarak to come to SKT for help. After an 11-hour train ride and a visit to the clinic, SKT was able to help him get fitted, and pay for, a new lower leg. Tarak has returned home to his family and is now able to walk and work. In another family, Darpan was taking medication for tuberculosis when the stay-at-home orders were announced. He kept taking his medication as directed but noticed his hearing was faltering. When the SKT clinic was open again, he went immediately to seek additional care. He had suffered a reaction to the medication. His hearing in one ear was totally lost but in the other he still had some hearing. Darpan was fitted with one hearing aid that enables him to feel confident about his surroundings again and get back to work to support his family. Save Kids Trust has a continued need for funds to provide for basic healthcare for children, moms, dads, and grandparents. Donate here to help more families in India with basic healthcare needs; food, medicines, or assistance for something special.
