A Story of Strength and Stitches

Woman in a yellow sari uses a black TAILOR sewing machine, flanked by two schoolgirls with backpacks in a room of their home.

Five years ago, Sunita’s life changed forever. At just 35, she lost her husband after he slipped on the stairs on his way to the temple and suffered serious head and spinal injuries. He was referred from Uttar Pradesh (where he was working) to Jaipur (where his family was living) for medical care but sadly passed away.

Sunita was left to raise her two daughters and care for her elderly parents with no steady source of income. Every day was a struggle to arrange meals, meet the family’s basic needs, and keep both girls in school. She worked hard, yet her earnings were often not enough.

Sunita knew how to sew, but she could not afford a machine of her own. That was when Save Kids Trust (SKT) stepped in. Recognizing her skills and determination, SKT provided her with a sewing machine, giving her the chance to earn through stitching, support her family, and work toward a better future for her daughters.

For Sunita, the machine was much more than equipment. It was a chance to rebuild her life with dignity and keep her daughters’ dreams alive.

Her story reminds us that behind every struggling woman is a person with strength, skills, and the determination to move forward. Sometimes, all she needs is someone who believes in her and gives her the chance to begin again.
