Preventing Vector-Borne Diseases

Each year, India's monsoon season brings welcome relief from the summer heat, but it also creates ideal conditions for disease. Humid weather and standing water become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, driving up cases of malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and typhoid, all of which share common early symptoms like fever, weakness, and body ache.
Save Kids Trust addresses this seasonal threat through community health education, holding seminars in Jaipur's informal settlements where team members, including Dr. Sharwan Saini, teach children practical prevention steps, most importantly emptying water reservoirs in coolers and clearing standing water from rooftops before mosquitoes have a chance to breed.
These children then carry that knowledge home, sharing it with parents, grandparents, and siblings, so that a single seminar reaches far beyond the gathering it was held for. By reaching households before symptoms appear, these seminars turn simple, low-cost habits into a first line of defense against some of the monsoon's deadliest illnesses.
