Helping the next generation by treating anemia during pregnancy

Mrs. Urmi Vide, a 25-year-old pregnant mother, was facing an extremely difficult situation.

Both she and her husband have been physically handicapped since birth, as neither of them are able to use their legs. Originally from Uttar Pradesh, they had come to Rajasthan in search of work and found some work in a Sulabh Complex but earn very little. The couple live with their five-year-old child in a single small room inside the facility.

During a regular community visit, our field staff member Radha met Urmi. She shared her struggles and requested help to reach a hospital. The Save Kids Trust team immediately stepped in and arranged for her medical care. At the hospital, doctors discovered that she was severely anemic, with a hemoglobin level of only 7.4 g/dl. She urgently required a blood transfusion.

Without hesitation, SKT staff members came forward, donated blood, and supported her through the treatment. Along with the medical care, we also extended emotional support to the family, ensuring they did not feel alone during this difficult time.

Thanks to timely intervention, and after a month of proper care, Urmi delivered a healthy baby girl. This was not just a medical success but a story of compassion and solidarity. SKT’s role went beyond medical help—our team also provided emergency assistance and essential supplies to her family.

Female SKT staff members check in with Radha regularly.

This story reminds us that with timely support and human kindness, even the most vulnerable families can overcome their challenges and look forward to a brighter future.
