A Second Chance for Baldev
Baldev, a 65-year-old man from Bihar, lives with his wife and earns a humble living pulling a rickshaw cart, transporting goods from one shop to another. The couple depends entirely on his daily earnings to meet their basic needs.
Last month, Baldev developed a high fever followed by severe abdominal pain. He visited a nearby private hospital, where an ultrasound revealed a liver abscess, which was drained under ultrasound guidance. Instead of improving, however, his condition worsened over the next three days — his abdominal pain grew more severe, and he became increasingly weak. By then, the family had already spent all of their savings on medical expenses.
With no money left and nowhere else to turn, Baldev's wife approached the Save Kids Trust (SKT) clinic for help. The SKT doctor examined him carefully and recognized that he needed urgent, specialized treatment, so SKT arranged his immediate admission to a government hospital.
A repeat ultrasound showed that more than a liter of pus was still present in his liver. Experienced doctors successfully drained the remaining abscess and provided appropriate treatment, and Baldev remained hospitalized for one week before being discharged.
Even after returning home, he was too weak to work for another three weeks. Since the family had no income during this period, SKT provided grocery supplies to help them get through the difficult stretch.
Today, Baldev has recovered well and returned to work. He and his wife are deeply grateful to Save Kids Trust for its timely medical intervention and compassionate support — without SKT's help, they believe they might have lost both their livelihood and Baldev's life.
