Early Diagnosis Saves Life

Priya was a lively 14-year-old who loved playing and laughing with friends. But over time, her smile faded. She stopped playing, lost her appetite, and grew weaker every day.
Her family, guided by traditional beliefs, assumed it was a spiritual problem. They visited a local faith healer, spending their hard-earned money on offerings and travel — for over three months. But her condition only worsened.
A kind neighbor finally urged the family to seek proper medical care at the Save Kids Trust street clinic set up in the neighborhood. That one suggestion changed everything.
After her initial evaluation, Priya was referred to a government specialist, where she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Tuberculosis — a serious but fully curable disease. Anti-Tuberculosis Treatment was started right away, and the SKT team made regular home visits to ensure she never missed a dose.
Within just two weeks, the change was visible. Her appetite returned. She began gaining weight. Her energy — and her smile — came back.
Priya's father is a daily laborer supporting a family of seven. Knowing that TB spreads through the air, the SKT team also screened her parents and four siblings to protect the whole family.
Today, Priya is recovering well and continuing her six-month treatment. Her family is grateful — not just for the medical care and physical support, but for the hope that was restored.
