Amit & Kaia's family journey

Every parent dreams of providing for their children — food, shelter, clothing, education, and a healthy future. Amit, a resident of the Gurjar Ki Thadi slum in Jaipur, is no different.
Amit has two sons, ages 10 and 6. For a time, the family was stable. He worked as a daily wage earner and even owned a small piece of land. But in 2009, work dried up. With no specialized skills, his search for employment across multiple cities came to nothing.
Then came another blow: his wife Kaia was diagnosed with Rheumatic Heart Disease. Surgery was the only option, estimated at $2,000 USD. To cover the cost, the family sold both their land and Kaia's jewelry. The operation was successful — but they were left with nothing.
Amit returned home and began repairing shoes near the slum, earning $3–5 a day. Most of that goes toward Kaia's ongoing medications, leaving his dream of educating his sons seemingly out of reach.
That changed with the intervention of the Harsha Medical Clinic. Kaia's medications and health needs are now managed through the clinic, freeing up the family's limited income for their sons' education.
Families like Amit's are caught in a cycle where financial hardship, health crises, and lack of opportunity compound one another. Save Kids Trust, through the placement of our unique clinics, provides a critical lifeline that allows these families to move forward.
