Save Kids Trust uses medical camps to reach out to new areas and people to provide free medical facilities, treatment, and counseling. This medical camp was organized at Jagathpura Kachchi Basti at Jaipur on March 1st, 2014. This informal housing settlement has around 1,600 households, the majority of whom settled in the area three to four decades ago. Most of the families had migrated from within India; some are from West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. Though a variety of caste groups live in the community, the dominant castes are Dalits, Berwa, and Regar. Each have their own hamlets within the settlement. A team of four people (two doctors, one nurse and an attendant) conducted a half day medical camp, where more than 200 people were screened, treated, and counseled for their health concerns. The team was able to identify a variety of health issues in both adults and children. The community was pleased to see such an initiative by Save Kids Trust. A medical camp, reaching hundreds of people, can be supported with just $250-$450 USD. Click here to help support Save Kids Trust today.
