Prakash’s Heart

​This family lives very near the Harsha Clinic. Dr Sharwan visits the informal housing settlements frequently and knew of Prakash’s birth. Dr. Sharwan watched Prakash grow up, playing in the streets. Prakash’s mother would frequently bring her son to the clinic, sick with respiratory infections. The clinic decided to look into why this was happening and, indeed, they found that this child had a heart problem.

After Dr. Sharwan’s initial diagnosis at the Save Kids Trust clinic, he took Prakash to a local hospital for testing. They confirmed that he had an abnormality in his heart that had developed before birth. Prakash’s family was previously unaware of this and didn’t know how to properly treat the condition.

Open heart surgery was required at the local hospital and Save Kids Trust provided additional support to bring Prakash to good health.

The first photo shows Prakash when he didn’t feel good (you can tell by looking at his body language). The last two photos are Prakash getting a ‘well-checkup” at the clinic several months after his surgery. The clinic was filled with joy to see him healthy!
