Local parents requested Dr. Sharwan give them education about screen-time, children, and how to manage the combination. Their concern is that their children were choosing to go to their phones (and other screens) instead of “playing sports and coloring rainbows.”
Dr. Sharwan and Dr. Renku both gave data and ideas on how to manage this dilemma at home. In the photos, you can see the women and men sit on opposite of each other. This is a cultural norm that happens naturally in a formal setting. The education seminar was then introduced to the youth. During this time, the following safety tips were shared along with the ‘why’s’.
This is not the first requested teaching seminar Save Kids Trust has developed. Another set of parents asked for education for children on “Healthy vs Unhealthy Touch”. The parents were very relieved to have a doctor give instruction to their children about these issues. It helped validate what they were communicating and even created openings for additional conversation at home. These educational programs are another way that Save Kids Trust supports the “health” of the communities that we serve.
