Kishan is a 35-year-old man who lives in the Gurjur Ki Thadi community of Jaipur. He is an iron worker and earns between $70-80 USD a month, which is a good sum. He is a provider, a husband, and the father of three children. His home is one of the better homes in this informal housing settlement. Kishan has not been able to work for some time because of a foot infection that hinders his ability to stand. He sought care at the Save Kids Trust clinic near his home. Dr. Sharwan found him to be suffering from a skin disease that started in his foot. This extreme infection, and its propensity to spread, put not only Kishan’s foot but also his leg, and potentially his life, in danger. The staff struggle to help him understand the real prognosis of the disease. After active management and proper medication, Kishan’s condition is now stable but not complete. Dr. Sharwan and his team are following his case as he comes to the clinic for medicine.
