Helping Women-Led Families Break Generational Poverty

One of the most effective ways Save Kids Trust has found to help poor families break the cycle of poverty is to find a talent to launch from. Sewing machines have been very successful in helping widowed or female only families find a reliable income source. At an educational seminar at the Jhalan mountain foot clinic site, board members were honored to gift a machine to this woman to begin her new business. This is just one example of how Save Kids Trust’s vocational intervention is making a difference in people’s lives.

Below are photos of visiting two sewing machine recipients in their home, which is also their business. They were very happy to show us their successes (a remodeled kitchen & daughters headed to medical careers) all because they had the gift of a key item to start a business).

After the gifting ceremony (first photos) a gentleman came to help move the sewing machine to the home of the recipient. We had met this man earlier in the day. His wife made us chai as he told us about how Save Kids Trust had saved his life a few years back. It was such a fun surprise to see him again - and to see how committed he was to the whole community. There were smiles all around!
